
Ben Dorfan is a composer, pianist, and educator based in Santa Cruz, California. His music has been featured at SEAMUS National Conference, The Spark Festival, and Electronic Music Midwest. Currently pursuing a D.M.A. in Music Composition at UC Santa Cruz, his research interests include computational models of creativity, chamber music composition, and writing for traditional Korean instruments. As a sought-after collaborator, he has performed locally with groups such as The Carmel Bach Festival, Santa Cruz Symphony, and Santa Cruz Chamber Players. Additionally, Ben serves as Board President of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, Santa Cruz County Branch, and Musician Liaison for Santa Cruz Chamber Players.
Ben believes that home begins with physical and spiritual safety. For him, the greater meaning of home is having a sense of belonging and purpose. He wishes all beings freedom from suffering.
